CeCe is a storyteller. She attends to the lyric of a song with the sole purpose of translating its beauty and power through word, rhythm, phrasing and tone. She listens to what the song has to say and, abiding therein, yields dimensions that are at once refreshing and captivating, convincing her audience that it is a song-though a familiar standard-heard for the very first time. CeCe’s aesthetic goes further. Taking risks to traverse less familiar musical territory, she leads audiences through portals that both startle and ultimately settle into the memorable. She broadens and educates listening ears toward an enjoyment and appreciation for the depths and heights of jazz.
